Healdsburg Wineries
Sonoma County is one of the prime grape growing areas in the world. Healdsburg Wineries are all within
a short drive from the town and include the three main valleys Alexandra Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Russian River
Valley wineries.

All of these vineyards and wineries lie within a region where the climate is perfect to create the fruit that
goes into the wines.
At any time of the year visiting the wineries can be an interesting and enjoyable experience. During the growing
season the vineyards are a beautiful lush green and in the autumn as the fruit is harvested the smell of the
crushed grapes fills the whole valley.
There are many organized tours to the wineries, some of which specialize in providing wine tasting trips to suit
your personal preference. However, you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy the fun of wine tasting. The landscape,
architecture and outdoor pursuits all make it an enjoyable day out.
When visiting the wineries you’ll find the staff helpful and friendly, and you’ll learn more about your favorite
wines and the processes involved in producing the end product.
The Russian River Valley area is great for Burgundy style wines and there’s usually someone around to explain
the reason for this and to give you expert advice on Zinfandel and Pinot Noir wines.
You can of course hire a bicycle and take a winding and undulating ride along West Dry Creek Road to visit
wineries in the that area. Tastings of such fine wines as Zinfandel, Rose, and Sauvignon Blanc will make the
effort worthwhile and you can then have a restful picnic beneath the trees and restore your energy for the ride
back.
With a wide choice of wineries to visit it’s useful to get information locally so that you can choose the tour
best suited to your particular interest. Wherever you go you will be surrounded by beautiful countryside and a
friendly atmosphere all of which contribute to making your vacation an interesting and enjoyable one.
Wines vary from estate to estate but you’ll find most of them enjoyable. The tasting rooms in the wineries quite
often double up as shops selling such things as gift cards, ceramics and olive oils as well as their wine.
They encourage you to picnic in their beautiful gardens by offering meats from their freezers, cheeses and of
course perfectly chilled wine. You can also buy sandwiches and salads, and sit inside or outside.
There are milk or dark chocolates filled with Pinot Noir to be enjoyed in some wineries, which believe me is an
experience not to be missed.
Don’t forget of course that there are many wine tasting rooms right in Healdsburg town itself all
within walking distance of the Plaza. Situated amongst the bistro’s and fine dining restaurants, these rooms have
many wines from award winning wineries. The attractive and friendly atmosphere of these rooms helps you to relax
and enjoying learning food pairing tips from the experts.
You cannot visit Sonoma County, or have a complete Healdsburg travel
experience, without visiting Healdsburg wineries, and possibly taking home a bottle or two
which, when opened, will remind you of your wonderful wine country experience.
